Roadside assistance in Chicago. Often faster than a tow.
Most calls we get are not actual tows. They are a dead battery, a flat tire, an empty tank or a locked key. A 20-minute roadside call gets you back on the road and usually saves the full tow fee. We provide roadside assistance across the Chicago metro, from the Loop and the lakefront out to Cicero, Oak Park, Naperville, Orland Park and Joliet. We stock everything on the truck: jump packs, spare tires, fuel cans and lockout tools. IDOT's Emergency Traffic Patrol also works the expressways clearing hazards, but it does not do repairs and it is not a tow service, which is where a tow call comes in, especially in the pre-dawn hours when hospital shift change and the O'Hare cargo belt keep real traffic moving.
What's included in roadside assistance?
- Jump start with high-capacity jump pack (no cables needed)
- Flat tire change with spare or donut
- Emergency fuel delivery (gas and diesel, 2-gallon minimum)
- Vehicle lockout (standard sedans, trucks, SUVs)
- Winch-out from soft shoulder or low-water crossing (short)
- Tire plug service when sidewall is intact
- Diagnostic check for next-step decision (tow or not)
- AAA / Allstate / USAA dispatched roadside
When do you need roadside assistance?
- Battery is dead and will not crank in the city, the suburbs, or anywhere metro-wide
- Flat tire and cannot safely change it on the shoulder
- Ran out of gas between exits on I-88, I-90 or I-80
- Keys locked inside the vehicle in any city or suburban neighbourhood
- Stuck in a low-water crossing or soft ground (lightly)
- Tire pressure warning and no air available
- Not sure if you need a tow yet - need a pro look
What do drivers ask about roadside assistance?
Do you provide roadside assistance in Cicero, Naperville, Joliet and other Chicago-area communities?
Yes. Quick Tow Chicago covers the whole metro for roadside assistance, from the Loop and the North Side out to Cicero, Oak Park, Naperville, Orland Park and Joliet. The city and the inner ring are quicker to reach than Elgin, Aurora or the far edge of Will County, so the honest answer depends on where you are. Call (773) 830-6930 and the operator gives you a window for your exact location.
Will a jump start fix my car?
If the battery is the only issue, yes, usually you can drive away after 10 minutes of idle. If the alternator is bad or the battery will not hold a charge, the operator tows you to a shop. We diagnose before recommending; you get honesty, not a sales pitch for the tow.
Can you change a tire on the Kennedy or the Dan Ryan?
Usually, but if the flat is on the traffic side of the vehicle on an active expressway, the safer move is a short tow off the road to a safe lot and a tire swap there. The Chicago expressway system carries some of the heaviest urban traffic in the country and there is often no usable shoulder at all, so a roadside tire change there is genuinely risky. IDOT's Emergency Traffic Patrol can also help clear you out of a live lane while the operator is en route.
How much fuel do you bring?
We bring 2 gallons of gasoline or diesel minimum. That is enough to get you to the nearest station, we do not fill the tank at roadside because of pricing and safety. Fuel is charged at cost plus a small service surcharge.
What if I need a tow after the roadside call?
If the roadside work does not solve it, the tow is dispatched from the same call, no second response fee. You pay the tow rate; the roadside call is bundled.
