# Quick Tow Chicago > Towing and roadside assistance across the Chicago metro, covering Cook, DuPage, Kane and Will counties. Flatbed, wheel-lift, heavy-duty, motorcycle, RV, long-distance, accident recovery, roadside assistance, junk car removal, private-property guidance and exotic/classic car transport. Quick Tow Chicago is a referral service: it answers the line 24/7 in English and Spanish and matches drivers with independent local tow operators. It does not own trucks, it does not perform the work, and it is not a commercial vehicle relocator licensed by the Illinois Commerce Commission. Quick Tow Chicago covers 35 places across the metro: the six sides of the city itself, the north and northwest suburbs from Evanston out to Schaumburg, the west suburbs from Oak Park out to Aurora and Elgin, the south and southwest suburbs from Oak Lawn to Chicago Heights, and the Will County freight corridor through Joliet. The operators in the network run flatbed, wheel-lift, heavy-duty and specialty tow trucks. The line is answered 24/7 in English and Spanish. Price quoted on the phone before dispatch, written quotes for long-distance. Call (773) 830-6930, or use the contact form at https://www.quicktowchicago.com/contact/. ## Services - [24/7 Emergency Towing](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/services/emergency-towing/): Stuck on the Kennedy, the Dan Ryan, or a side street off Milwaukee Avenue? It is one very large city plus a ring of independent municipalities that each run their own police department, their own impound and their own administrative fee. That distinction drives almost every question a driver actually has, because a City of Chicago tow and a suburban village tow follow completely different rules. Every place below is in Illinois. Northwest Indiana was excluded from this build on purpose so that no page ever renders an Indiana city with an Illinois suffix. ### Chicago City Sides (6 places) The six sides of the city itself, grouped by community area. This is where an impound and a relocation are two different things and most drivers do not know which one happened to them. - [The Loop & Near North](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/towing-service-in-chicago-il/the-loop/) - [North Side Lakefront](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/towing-service-in-chicago-il/north-side/) - [Northwest Side](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/towing-service-in-chicago-il/northwest-side/) - [West Side](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/towing-service-in-chicago-il/west-side/) - [Southwest Side](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/towing-service-in-chicago-il/southwest-side/) - [South Side](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/towing-service-in-chicago-il/south-side/) ### North & Northwest Suburbs (8 places) Tollways, O'Hare and shopping-centre lots. Our own service prices are quoted before dispatch rather than published as a figure, because this brand has no rate card in Chicago yet and a price nobody has set is a price we will not promise. The only dollar figures on this site are the City of Chicago's own published fees, cited to the ordinance. - [towing-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/towing-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Tow truck cost - [long-distance-towing-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/long-distance-towing-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Long-distance tow cost - [flatbed-towing-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/flatbed-towing-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Flatbed tow cost - [car-impound-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/car-impound-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Impound and storage cost - [motorcycle-towing-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/motorcycle-towing-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Motorcycle tow pricing - [rv-towing-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/rv-towing-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): RV & motorhome pricing - [heavy-duty-towing-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/heavy-duty-towing-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Heavy-duty & commercial pricing - [winch-out-recovery-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/winch-out-recovery-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Winch-out & recovery pricing - [car-lockout-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/car-lockout-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Car lockout pricing - [jump-start-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/jump-start-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Jump start pricing - [fuel-delivery-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/fuel-delivery-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Fuel delivery pricing - [exotic-car-tow-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/exotic-car-tow-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Exotic & luxury pricing - [tire-change-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/tire-change-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Tire change pricing - [junk-car-removal-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/junk-car-removal-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Junk car removal pricing - [tow-without-aaa-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/tow-without-aaa-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): No-membership tow pricing - [moving-truck-towing-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/moving-truck-towing-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Moving truck pricing - [ev-tow-cost-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/ev-tow-cost-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): EV & Tesla pricing ## Guides (Illinois and Chicago process, guide x place) - [how-to-get-car-out-of-impound-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/how-to-get-car-out-of-impound-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Find out where your car was towed near {c}, the right number to call, and what you will owe before you drive over. - [car-towed-from-private-property-in-chicago-il](https://www.quicktowchicago.com/car-towed-from-private-property-in-chicago-il/the-loop/): Towed from a lot or apartment complex in {c}? Every figure below was read against a primary source on 2026-08-21. Three figures people commonly cite are deliberately NOT here because they could not be confirmed: the Illinois Commerce Commission's current maximum relocation rate, a $1,500 cap on City of Chicago storage charges, and a City of Chicago post-tow hearing deadline. Do not cite those. - **The City of Chicago publishes its tow and storage fees.** Under Municipal Code 9-92-080: $250 to tow a vehicle under 8,000 pounds, $350 at 8,000 pounds or more, and storage of $50 per day under 8,000 pounds or $100 per day at or above. Payment is cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express or Diners Club only; checks and money orders are not accepted. (Source: chicago.gov, Common Towing Questions and Illegally Parked Vehicles.) - **The city publishes a DIFFERENT fee set for winter parking-ban tows:** a minimum $150 towing fee, a $60 ticket and $25 per day storage. Both sets are the City of Chicago's own figures. Never merge or average them. (Source: chicago.gov, Winter Snow Parking Restrictions.) - **Four city auto pounds, all open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year:** Central Auto Pound, 500 E Wacker Dr (Lower Level); O'Hare International Airport Auto Pound, Bessie Coleman Drive; Auto Pound #2, 103rd and Doty Avenue; Auto Pound #6, 701 N Sacramento Avenue. Abandoned vehicles are impounded at 103rd and Doty and at 701 N Sacramento. - **A missing car in Chicago has not necessarily been impounded.** The city relocates vehicles to clear streets for agency work, and states this may happen in an emergency with no opportunity to post signs. Its own instruction is to call 311 before reporting the vehicle stolen. Lookup tool: findyourvehicle.cityofchicago.org. - **The city's hook-up rule is the opposite of the private-property rule.** chicago.gov, verbatim: "Once the vehicle is raised from the location it was parked the vehicle must go to the pound." By contrast, 625 ILCS 5/18a-300(9) forbids a private-property relocator from removing a vehicle when the owner is present before removal is complete and able to move it. - **Disposal clock.** Vehicles are normally stored no less than 21 days from the date the city mails notice to the registered owner, and under 9-92-100(a) the registered owner has the right to ONE extension of 15 days before the vehicle is sold or otherwise disposed of. Request it from the Auto Pound Office at 312.746.4954. Unclaimed vehicles may be disposed of or sold at auction and the owner still owes the fines and fees. - **Vehicles that cannot be released at the pound** and require the Vehicle Impoundment Office at 400 W Superior: narcotics, solicitation, fly dumping, firearms, counterfeit wheel tax emblem, defacement, fleeing and eluding, noise, drag racing, unlicensed public passenger vehicle, altered temporary registration, DUI, fireworks, suspended or revoked licence, littering, reckless driving, funeral procession. Booted vehicles: Department of Finance, 312.744.PARK. - **Blocked driveway line:** the city publishes 312-746-4520 for a vehicle blocking your driveway. Other illegally parked vehicles go through 311. (Source: chicago.gov, Illegally Parked Vehicles.) - **Two winter parking bans.** The Winter Overnight Parking Ban covers 107 miles of arterial street from 3am to 7am, December 1 through April 1, regardless of snow, with permanent signage; violators are towed to Pound 2 or Pound 6. A separate Two-Inch Parking Ban covers another 500 miles of main street and activates once at least two inches of snow are on the street, at any hour and any date. Both exist because of the 1967 and 1979 storms. - **Abandoned vehicle definition, City of Chicago.** A vehicle qualifies if it is on a public way in a state of disrepair such that it cannot be driven in its present condition; OR has not been moved or used for more than seven consecutive days and is apparently deserted; OR has been left on the public way without state registration or a temporary state registration placard for two or more days; OR is a hazardous dilapidated vehicle left in full view of the general public, on public or private property. Bicycles excluded. Reported through 311. The city has contracted abandoned-vehicle removal to a private firm since 1989 and says more than 500,000 vehicles have been towed under it. - **Private-property towing in Illinois is a licensed activity.** Under 625 ILCS 5/18a, the Illinois Commercial Relocation of Trespassing Vehicles Law, private-property tows in Cook, Will, Kane, DuPage and Winnebago counties are performed by commercial vehicle relocators licensed by the Illinois Commerce Commission, on two-year licences with criminal and driving records reviewed. The law does not apply to vehicles on public streets, disabled vehicles, repossessions or police-directed towing. - **Sign requirements, 625 ILCS 5/18a-302:** posted conspicuously in the affected area, at least 24 inches high by 36 inches wide, at least 4 feet from the ground but less than 8, illuminated or painted with reflective paint or both, and carrying the relocator's name, address and telephone number plus the amount of the towing charges. Residential property clearly reserved for residents and their vehicles is exempt. - **Relocator unlawful practices, 625 ILCS 5/18a-300:** advertising without the licence number (6); removing without written authorization (7); removing when the owner is present and able to move it (9); removing from property lacking the required signs (10); failing to notify local law enforcement within one hour of removal (11); charging other than in accordance with Commission-set rates (12); failing to hand the owner the governing statutes in writing (13.1); towing more than 15 air miles from an unincorporated location or 10 from anywhere else (14); and **the one-hour phone rule (15): if after a reasonable effort the owner cannot make telephone contact with the relocator for one hour from the first attempt, all fees for towing, storage or otherwise are to be waived**. Overcharges must be refunded (18). - **Illinois Commerce Commission complaints:** 9511 W. Harrison Street, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016, (847) 294-4326. The complaint form is on the back of the Relocation Towing Invoice, which the relocator must give you as a receipt. - **Relocator storage rules, 92 Ill. Adm. Code 1710 and the ICC consumer guide:** no storage charge after the vehicle is claimed with proper identification and payment; no storage charges for days or hours the relocator is closed to the public; no storage fee at all if the vehicle is claimed within 24 hours; no more than 8 days of storage charges on a stolen vehicle; and relocators must accept cash, money orders, cashier's or certified checks and major credit cards without additional fees. - **Suburban impounds are governed by 625 ILCS 5/11-208.7.** A municipal administrative fee must be reasonable and related to the municipality's administrative and processing costs; the statute sets no dollar cap. Notice must be provided within 10 days, an initial hearing must be scheduled and convened no later than 45 days after the notice is mailed, and administrative fees already paid must be refunded if the hearing officer finds the vehicle was stolen or hijacked at the time of impoundment. - **Illinois salvage and junking, 625 ILCS 5/3-117.1 and 3-117.2.** A salvage certificate is required in six situations including an insurance total-loss payment and damage exceeding 50 percent of fair market value; the holder must deliver or mail the title with application and fee to the Secretary of State within 20 days. A junking certificate authorises possession, transport or transfer of the junked vehicle and **a certificate of title shall not again be issued for that vehicle**. The Secretary of State will not reissue a title or salvage certificate for any vehicle listed on a Junk Vehicle Notification, which a scrap processor or parts recycler must submit within 15 days. - **Weather, NWS Chicago 1991-2020 normals at O'Hare:** 38.4 inches annual snowfall, 37.86 inches annual precipitation, January average high 31.6F and low 18.8F, 121.3 nights a year with a low at or below 32F, and 6.5 nights at or below 0F. Snowiest winters on record: 1978-79 at 80.6 inches, 1977-78 at 71.2 inches, 2013-14 at 67.4 inches. Period of record begins 1871. - **Crash volume, IDOT 2024 Illinois Crash Facts & Statistics:** Cook County 164,559 crashes, 333 fatal, 31,456 injury. DuPage 17,323. Will 13,570. Lake 11,971. Kane 10,445. Statewide 303,913 crashes, 1,085 fatal. Cook County alone accounts for 54 percent of all crashes in Illinois. - **IDOT runs an Emergency Traffic Patrol on the Chicago-area expressways**, whose crews are known as the Minutemen. They respond to disruptive incidents, set up safe emergency lane closures, warn approaching traffic and restore normal flow. They do not repair vehicles and they do not tow them away. - **Bureau of Traffic Services:** 312.746.4954, Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm, for general questions about a City of Chicago tow. ## Bilingual dispatch and the Spanish-speaking community Spanish is a first-class language on this site, not a translation afterthought, because the numbers justify it. From the 2020 community-area data: Gage Park is 88.8 percent Hispanic, West Lawn 88.0, Hermosa 84.9, East Side 83.4, South Lawndale (Little Village) 80.7, Archer Heights 79.5, Brighton Park 78.8, Belmont Cragin 78.1, Lower West Side (Pilsen) 68.2, New City (Back of the Yards) 67.5, Chicago Lawn 61.0 and Garfield Ridge 59.1. In the suburbs, Cicero is more than 89 percent Hispanic and the most Hispanic municipality in Illinois; Elgin is 47.4 percent, Aurora 41.5, Joliet 33.6 and Chicago Heights 23.8. The register is Mexican-American, the same family used on the network's San Diego and El Paso sites: carro, grua, corralon, remolque. It is deliberately NOT the Caribbean or Honduran vocabulary used elsewhere. ## En Espanol (Spanish mirror) The entire site is mirrored in Spanish under `/es/`. Every English URL above has a Spanish equivalent at the same path prefixed with `/es/` (for example `/services/flatbed-towing/` becomes `/es/services/flatbed-towing/`). It does not hold an Illinois Commerce Commission commercial vehicle relocator licence and it does not perform private-property relocations. Where a page describes what a relocator must do, it is describing the licensed company the property owner hired, not us.
